It's Time To Take Back The Web!
"Firefox empowers you to accomplish your online activities faster, more safely and efficiently than any other browser, period. Built with Tab browsing, popup blocking and a number of other seamless innovations, Firefox stands out ahead."
Well? So they say. Actually, with a full line of features, it's an excellent alternative to MSIE. I understand most sites are optimized for MSIE, and people such as you and I are resistant to change. It took me a long long time to give up on the old Netscape series (v4.XX) before actually using IE. I figured, why buck the trend? Well, the same holds true for this innovative technology. Ok, maybe not all that innovative, but this browser sports many features not found in IE or Opera Browser. I think most of us can live through the day without ActiveX. When was the last time you heard of someone exploiting FireFox? The fact remains, Microsoft products, as much as you say you hate them, are good products. Not the best, but good. Since 90% of the browser market is owned by IE, why would anyone want to waste their time writing an exploit/trojan for a browser with a 2% +/- market share? The answer's easy, they wouldn't. So, what's under the hood? Tabbed Browsing Firefox presents a fast and convenient way to browse the web - now you can open several pages in one window in separate browser tabs. Open links in the background while you read a web page, then continue to the links when you're done - pages are available when you need them, making the web feel faster even over slow connections. Popup Blocking Popup advertising is one of the biggest web annoyances. Firefox shields you from unwanted popup windows. It also lets you allow certain sites to open popup windows if necessary.
Integrated Search Firefox makes finding things easy. The built-in Google bar provides convenient access to the best search engine on the web.
Efficient Navigation Firefox makes it easy to navigate without using the mouse. You can open links simply by typing some of the text in the link.
AutoDownload Automatically download files to your Desktop or another location with AutoDownload. Downloading becomes much simpler without windows popping up asking you where to save. More Features...
Let's start by typing about:config in the FireFox address bar. Find network.http.pipelining.firstrequest and double-click and change the value to True Look for network.http.pipelining. Double-click it and change the value to True. Now look for network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and change it to a more desirable number. (such as 32) And finally, look for nglayout.initialpaint.delay and change it to 0 Take her out for a test drive and see how much faster FireFox can go! My guess is you'll be pleased!! To reset these values to default, just leave the box empty and hit enter. Running on Windows XP, these tweaks have made FireFox the faster browser on my systems! Period!
