E-Mail Notification for Gmail
If you're using Windows XP/2000, you can be notified of new GMail via your notification area in the tray. The installer is under 300KB and installs in seconds. One nice option is to use Gmail as your e-mail default when clicking mailto: links. Although it checks for new messages every two minutes, there's no option to change this. Maybe in a future release. Also, Google mentions, "select a sound to indicate when you have new mail ". There is no obvious way to change this. Upon notification, a snippet of text from the email pops up, and automatically rolls over from e-mail to e-mail. Very nice! ;)
Although still in beta, it's been running without a hitch.
